On one of the most frustrating days of a depressingly frustrating week, I tried to steal a little time to go down to the Flamingo section of Everglades National Park because I knew I'd get another new confirmed breeding species for Miami-Dade. Osprey were reportedly already nesting there.
I got down there and there were 2 very conspicuous nests within 50 yards of each other, but alas, I had not charged my camera so I didn't get very many photos. I'll have it charged next time I go down there; sorry guys.

The lower of the two nests. You could definitely get up in there with a regular ladder if you wanted, it's so low to the ground. |

This nest is directly above the visitor center. In both nests, one osprey was eating and the other was look-out. From this nest, I watched the eater get chased by a crow for his fish for several minutes before he managed to get back to the nest. |

Tree island just offshore. I'll have to kayak out there next time I go.

Post-script: Turns out Flamingo isn't in Miami-Dade. Who knew? But it's still a new confirmed data point.
